Campus Administration YL (1)

My Family Values.

My family provided me with a loving and supportive environment. I have been very blessed to have so many positive influences in my life.

My parents & my grandmother have always told me that failure is not an option and to always dream big. My family culture has taught me to be kind, passionate, and respectful of others. I come from a family of educators who are very passionate about their field of work. My grandmother has been a school teacher for over 25 years.

She returned to college and attained her Master’s degree, in spite of facing many obstacles. She has always stressed to me that getting a great education is key and important. She is an awesome role model and has been a huge positive influence in my life when it comes to my education. I always go above and beyond to make sure that I do my best in school.

My parents have taught me to always be of good moral character and to value myself and others.

They both strongly believe in paying it forward & giving back to those who are less fortunate. My mother was a youth recreational volunteer cheer coach for 5 years. She worked with high risk kids after school providing a positive environment for them. She made me realize over the years that some of the smallest things we take for granted could make a huge difference in another person’s life. My mom showed me what it is to be a compassionate leader.

Both of my parents have taught me that hard work does pay off. It is because of them that I have a very strong work ethic. I was raised by a mother that wanted all of her children to be involved in something positive, which would result in making lifetime memories, new relations and discovering doors of opportunities.

My parents always made sure we stayed involved in multiple community activities, helping others in any way that we could. We had a yearly Christmas family tradition and we would volunteer to sing at various nursing homes during the holiday season. Some of the elderly would sing along with us. The smiles on the residents’ faces were priceless. It meant so much to me and my family to know that the sound of our voices was bringing them so much joy.

As I move into this next phase of college life, I am so grateful that I have a family who believes in me and has taught me to believe in myself at all times. My family has had a huge impact on my life and has motivated me to continually strive for success.
